Our first Airstream rally, at Casini Ranch on the Russian River, brought us into contact with many of the experienced Airstreamers we'd been swapping ideas with on airforums.com. Seeing that much aluminum in one place made us feel right at home.

The Tin Pickle is about halfway down the row, with an orange bucket for grey water. We just happened to be parked next to a near twin to our trailer, maybe a year younger, with owners who were also at their first Airforums rally.
There were many chances to swap ideas and see what other Airstreams look like. The weather was cloudy, but the rain held off, unlike the deluge we'd followed on the forum the previous year.
Good weather, good food, good company |
After the schmoozing and visiting, it was time for a huge potluck dinner. The long row of tables was ringed by aluminum on all sides. If we hadn't already caught bad cases of aluminitis, this would have done it, I'm sure.
Some Airstream friends we had met at Burning Man the previous summer also came to Casini. Good times were had.

Discussions and tall tales continued into the night. Odd flamingos were also sighted here and there.
